KILCALMONELL
Death of an Old Argyllshire Lady - On Friday the remains of Mr[s] Katherine M. Campbell, widow of Rev. James R. Campbell, were laid to rest in the churchyard of Kilcalmonell. She was born in August 5, 1816, and married on July 2nd, 1840. Her father was Rev. William Fraser, minister of Kilchrenan, Loch Awe; and her mother was Ann MacIver Campbell, belonging to the family of Lochgair, Argyllshire. In her deep sense of reverence and her dignified bearing, Mrs Campbell was considered a typical example of the old Scottish gentlewoman. One of her sons is minister of Traqueer, Dumfries, another of Kirkcudbright, and a third of Cargill. [1]
