He was the husband of 49 years of Georgetta (Dupont) Campbell. Born in Manchester, son of the late Earl and Helen (Cheswick) Campbell, he was a graduate of Manchester High School Class of 1947 and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Jim retired from Southern New England Telephone Co. after 34 1/2 years of service in the Manchester office. He was a member of American Legion Post #14, Vernon and loved fishing, animals, gardening, garage sales and watching UCONN basketball. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, James E. Campbell, Jr. of Manchester; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Llewellyn of Albany, NY; his best friend, Donald Duffy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James F. Campbell of North Port, FL. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 10 a.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Rte. 83, Vernon, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Sledesky officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North-Central Hospice, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066. [1]
